I heard there's a woman at our office that got pregnant at 46, by accident!!!! And it's her first child. Stories like that keep me thinking it's not impossible.

The stats are so grim, I refuse to read them anymore.

Pregnant at 45 years old, on 2nd cycle of Clomid, my own egg. According to Doctor and midwives, having a "perfect pregnancy" so far (now 30 weeks). I am convinced a de-tox 3 weeks before conceiving did the trick for us!

All tests came back OK (Amniocentesis at 16 weeks & 20 week diagnostic scan). This is my first baby.

I did acupuncture twice a month for 6 months. Took vile Chinese herbs for 4 months. Did yoga three times a week and Pilates once a week. Cut down on caffeine and alcohol to just weekends and celebrations. Used PreSeed when BDing ["baby dancing", making love] around 'O' [ovulation]. Ate freshly prepared foods as much as possible, and felt happy we were giving it the best possible opportunity.

Now pregnant with first baby at 45!!

I think not stressing about it is very important, and just tweak your odds with whatever is comfortable for you.

I watched the TV program Britain’s Oldest Mums and Dads. There was definitely a lady on there over 50, and that wasn’t made up because I saw her. I say good luck whatever your age, as long as you are physically and mentally able to look after a baby/child.

I just want to say don’t give up on your dreams. There are a lot of ladies that have babies after the age of 45.

I am 44, and pregnant right now myself. This is my second baby after the age of 40. I was talking to my OB. He told me, so far, his oldest pregnant lady is 48, and doing fine as well as the baby. I wish you lots of luck and praying you get that little one.

In my late 30's I was chronically ill. I was desperate to improve my health. I personally know 2 ladies who had all their children in their 40's, the last when they were 46 and 47 respectively. I met them both since I joined this board.
My mum had me at 42, and she now has a friend whose daughter-in-law is pregnant with her first at 46, so it must be a small world. I say keep up the encouragement!!!

I’ve been told, although I don’t know how true it is because I obviously wasn't around at the time, but my great grandmother apparently had my grandfather at the ripe old age of 52.

Her first and only child. I’ve got all the dates in our copy of the family tree that has been researched on the 1901 census and it all tallies up with what I was told. Now working on the theory that IVF [in vitro fertilization], etc. didn’t even exist in those days, it must of been a natural conception.

Unfortunately he died at 26 killed in the war, but she actually outlived him -living to the age of 84. She moved in with his wife, bringing up his 3 children when he went of to war, so it just goes to show there is hope.

I, too, only believe half of what I read on the internet, newspapers etc., but there has to be some truth sometimes. We can’t just dismiss everything because we don’t think it's true.

My Dad was born in 1928. He was the youngest of five boys that were born in a ten year span. His mother was born in 1882.

This of course means that my grandmother was 46 when my Dad was born, and 36 when she had her first. She was almost 32 when she married my grandfather, who was two years her senior, in the summer of 1914.

I'm almost 46 and due May 10th. I had my last baby when I was 24, he's 21 years old and my first baby is 26! I had all the regular blood tests and ultrasound testing, but had already decided to forgo the amnio, no matter what the results of my other tests.

According to my doctors, everything is just fine. I am termed high risk, but have had no problems beyond the morning sickness. So for me, being high risk means I get to see the baby more often since I have an ultrasound every 4/-6 weeks to check on his growth.

I can't say I'm not nervous or anxious sometimes, but mostly I am trying to enjoy this. I truly believe that everything happens for a reason, and God never gives us more than we can handle.

I'm 43 (will be 44 when baby is born), 4 1/2 months pregnant with my 2nd, and awaiting results from my amnio. I, too, am anxious about the results, but the odds are still with us, so I guess we should keep our chins up!

I am 45, having my 4th child... I was 35 when I had my 3rd child... During my 3rd pregnancy I tried out at 5 months for women’s professional baseball & made it. Three months after the baby I was in spring training. I now just finished a season in the men’s baseball league in September, and I'm due in June.

Baby is fine 2x above a normal baby's arm & leg length, very active and healthy. Of course I'm 5'-11". Right now I'm coaching Fast pitch softball helping out with my son's baseball and practicing (only) baseball... Just finished coaching kids basketball, and I have to be in shape by November for the Women’s baseball World Series. Plus organizing girls baseball and I work 40 hours a week.

Whew I feel great! And healthy... No problems. The key is stay active, healthy, don't smoke... Social drink now & then, and plenty of exercise... Drink a lot of water. You're only as old as you let yourself be!

I am 45 years old and pregnant. I went to get my cholesterol checked and had not had a proper period, so my doctor suggested a pregnancy test. My doctor rang me to tell me the news at 07.30 in the morning.

I have a baby through egg donation who is 9 months old, and I had been infertile for years. I will be 46 years old when I am 4 months pregnant. My husband and I had had sex twice in the six months prior. I never thought it would happen, and we were not trying.

I am 21 weeks with my 4th child, and will be 44 when he arrives in Sept. My daughter was born when I was 42, and she was a healthy 9 lb 4 ozs. My first son was born when I was 30, and the second son at 32.

All 3 are very healthy, and am quite sure the next one will be too. (He's already measuring like he will outweigh the girl!) I didn’t have an amnio with the little girl, and chose not to this time either because all blood work and ultrasounds showed everything was normal, so the High-Risk specialist says there is no need to see him again and I can continue with my regular OB.

I feel that most literature regarding older moms is very negative. I am 44 years old, and thrilled to be pregnant with my 2nd child after many miscarriages. Let's be more positive for a change!

By the way, my mother got pregnant with me when she was 45 and turned 46 6 days after I was born. I'm just fine.

I'm 45 and expecting my first in December. I’m 13 weeks pregnant. It took some doing, but I definitely had to turn a deaf ear to the "fertility specialists" who stood to make thousands of $$ by convincing me I would need treatments.

Just keep using those ovulating sticks! They work great, but you have to go through a lot of them.

I am 45 and newly pregnant... What a shocking surprise! I never, ever imagined I could get pregnant again at this age. I already have a 20 month old son and a 7 year old son.
